“She was honoured for the role she played in the struggle for independence. She worked as Women League Secretary for Mufulira. In 1961 she went back to Mbala in Northern Province and became District Women’s League Secretary and continued organizing women to join the liberation struggle. She became the first woman Member of Parliament (MP) for Senga Hill Constituency and served from 1968 to 1978. She served as Deputy Chief Whip in Parliament from 1968 to 1978.”
