“He was honoured for his dedication to the freedom struggle. As Head of the Information Department of United National Independence Party (UNIP) during the struggle for independence, he was instrumental in producing propaganda materials which were used by UNIP organs throughout the country against the colonial Government. He was Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services. He held several Ministerial positions in the UNIP Government and served as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. He was also Chairman of the Energy Board in Zambia.”
