“She was honoured for being one of the the women who exhibited indignation for colonialism by carrying out the ultimate form of protest alongside Mama Julia Mulenga Chikamoneka by stripping half naked. She helped Omelo Mumba and Justin Musonda Chimba escape from prison and hid them in her house for a week and later took them to Mindolo in Kitwe where they used to care for blind people and registered them as blind so as to protect them from the colonial security forces.”
