“He was honoured for being an eminent son of Mother Zambia who participated in the struggle against federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. He was a senior ember of ANC. He served as Livingstone District Secretary and at Independence joined UNIP under which he worked as Cabinet Minister for Decentralization. He later joined the Movement for Multi- Party Democracy (MMD) and was appointed Cabinet Minister. He was again appointed by President Sata,leader of the Patriotic Front (PF)as Minister for Southern Province. He is among career politicians who have contributed to the consolidation of the country's freedom, democracy and development.”
