“Whereby, the late Major Moses Masumba worked for the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) for 21 years and rose to the position of Chief Pilot of the Aviation Department. He flew 6,582 hours transporting medical personnel undertaking routine Medical Outreach to people and emergency aeromedical evacuations to save lives in the rural and hard reach areas. Unfortunately, on 5th May, 2010, his career was cut shot while picking up the medical team at Chembe airstrip, he was ambushed by three serial killers who came to be known as "Mailoni brothers". The late Major Masumba was killed, and his co-pilot was the one who flew the aircraft back with rest of the medical team. His immense contribution to ensuring Government delivered medical services to rural and hard to reach areas up to the point of losing his life in indeed worthy of special commendation.”
