“He was honoured for spearheading in the fight against colonial oppression and injustices, and also helped to establish schools in Isoka District in Muchinga Province. In co-operation with Rev. David Kaunda, the father of former President Kaunda, Mr. Siwale was part of the group that formed the first Welfare Society in 1923 at Mwenzo, the Northern Rhodesia Welfare Societies, commissioned oppression to fight against racism and colonial injustice.”
