“He was honoured for rendering loyal and dedicated service by participating in the amalgamation of the three Tribal Councils into the Fort Jameson Rural Council now Chipata District Council. He worked for the Chewa Native Authority, first as a Court Clerk and then as Assistant Treasury Clerk. After becoming Paramount Chief Undi in 1953, he became the Stalwart Chairman of the Chewa Council starting in 1957. He was also a representative for a long period of the Eastern Province Chiefs Council in the House of Chiefs. He later became Chairman of the House of Chiefs.”
